Syrian Government Map Labels Israel and Jordan as “Palestine”

(December 28, 2004)

The Syrian Parliament launched a new website on December 16, 2004, which included a map of the Middle East that labeled the area within the Green Line as “Israel,” the area of the West Bank was labeled “Palestine,” and the area to the east of the Jordan River was labeled “Jordan.” As of December 28, 2004, the map has been changed with the Green Line deleted. In the revised map the entire area that was previously labeled “Israel,” “Palestine,” and “Jordan” (a nation with diplomatic relations with Syria) is labeled “Palestine.”
