Israel, Turkey, and U.S. Will Hold Joint Military Exercises

Israeli, Turkish, and U.S. Navy and Air Forces will participate in a joint search-and-rescue exercise in late August, 2007. south of the Turkish coast. The “Reliant Mermaid VIII” exercise will take place in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea south of the Turkish coast.  Ten ships, four helicopters and four search-and-rescue aircrafts from the three countries will participate in the exercise with the aim of practicing coordinated emergency search-and-rescue procedures and measures for safety of life at sea.
