First Woman Appointed Head of IDF Corps

On May 9, 2005, the IDF participated in an historic event. Ornah Barbiai, past officer of the military adjutancy corps, became the first female head of an IDF corps.

Barbiai was granted the rank of Brigadier General. She was ceremoniously promoted by the Chief of Staff, Lt.-Gen Moshe Yaalon, and Devorah Hassid, the Chief of Staff's Counselor for Women Issues.
