Israeli President Re-Elected

Israeli President Ezer Weizman was re-elected to a second five-year term today, despite a surprisingly strong challenge by Shaul Amor. Weizman won 63 votes in the 120-member parliament, while Amor, favored by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, received 49 votes. Eight lawmakers didn't vote.
