Governments of the State of IsraelIn its first 54 years, Israel had 30 governments. The longest lasting was the 15th Government, a Labor Alignment-NRP coalition under Golda Meir, which ruled from December 1969 to March 1974. The shortest was also under a Labor Alignment-NRP coalition under Meir. The 16th Government lasted only from March to June 1974. The National Religious Party (under various names) has served in government for 48 years, Labor (in various guises) for 40, and the Likud for 20.*
