Kach

by Rebecca Weiner

Rabbi Meir Kahane formed the Kach party in 1971 and ran in the 1980 Knesset election. Kach, a Zionist party, called for the transfer of Israel’s Arab population to other Arab lands. In 1984, Rabbi Kahane won his first Knesset seat; however, he was banned from running for office in 1988 and Kach was outlawed because of its racist and anti-democratic platform.
