U.S. Officials Discuss Priority of Dachau Trials(September 25, 1945)This PDF document is
from Charles B. Mickelwaite, theater judge
advocate of the
war crimes unit, to Col. Mickey Straight
and Col. Leon Jaworski of Watergate fame. It
shows the primary reason the concentration
camp cases proceeded as they did, and it
helps explain the reason that no cases
were developed from the Gardelegen Massacre
and the Nordhausen process was so limited. Many
people have speculated that so few trials
were held for crimes at Nordhausen because
the missile work performed there was so secret. In
the end, it was the lack of resources that
accounts for that particular factor.
