Britain-Israel Relations: British Cabinet Disscusses Jordanian Annexation of Parts of Palestine; Recognition of Israel

(April 20, 1950)

Following the end of the 1948 War, the Britsh concluded the only Arab country willing to make peace with Israel was Jordan. They proposed that Jordan incorporate the areas of Palestine it controlled and, in exchange, the British would grant de jure recognition to Israel with caveats about the future of Jerusalem.
