U.S. & Israel Expand Ties on Technology Trade
The first bilateral technology trade conference, the U.S.-Israel High Technology Forum, was held in Arlington, Virginia in September 2008. In attendance were top officials from the United States Department of Commerce and the Israeli Ministry of Defense, as well as business people from the private sectors of both countries. The conference was established in an effort to solve challenges and discover opportunities in the realm of high technologies, such as defense, aerospace and nanotechnology. According to the Commerce Department, the forum is “the most senior bilateral dialogue” on technology trading between the two nations up to this point. Israel is one of only three nations that the United States engages with in senior level trade of this nature, the others being China and India. The forum is slated to be an annual event.
