Israel Leads World In R&D Spending

National spending on civilian research and development (R&D) in Israel totaled NIS 25.6 billion in 2004. As a proportion of GDP, this was 4.6%, down from 4.7% in 2003, and 4.8% in 2002. Israel is ranked first in the world for civilian R&D spending as a proportion of GDP.
