Dan Tichon was an Israeli politician and former Speaker of the Knesset.

Tichon (born January 5, 1937) was born in Haifa during the British Mandate over Palestine. He served as an officer in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and graduated in economics and international relations from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

From 1970 to 1974, Tichon served as Advisor to the Minister of Trade and Industry on Development Areas. From 1971 to 1981, he was Chairman of the Directors' Council of the Housing and Development Company, and in 1977 was appointed Director General of the Housing and Development Company.

Tichon was first elected to the Knesset in 1981 as a member of the Likud Party. He served as member of the Knesset Committees on Finance, Internal Affairs and the Environment, State Control, Energy, and Sport. In 1984, Tichon was re-elected and appointed Deputy Speaker of the Knesset. He continued in these positions through 1992, serving also as Chairman of the Israel-Germany Parliamentary Friendship League. In the 13th Knesset (1992-1996), he was Chairman of the Knesset Committee on State Audit, and member of the Knesset Committee on Finance.

In July 1996, Tichon was appointed Speaker of the Knesset. He lost re-election in 1999.

In 2010 Dan Tichon assumed the Chairman position at the Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance, and Research (ITF).

On September 30, 2024, Tichon has died at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife, two children, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
